Set adjacent to a National Park in Thirroul, this forever home occupied by a young family presented a challenge with its dysfunctional spaces and dominating roofline.

A simple idea of dividing the space with its materiality and detailing has taken the focus off the existing architectural “features” and placed the focus firmly on its interior. Combined with thoughtful and considered spatial planning and a few secret doors this space has been transformed into a sophisticated showstopper.

“Our focus is always function first. For us the space was extremely under-utilised. Through the design development phase, the floorplan was flipped to provide valuable transition and flow back to the space.”

"The interior aesthetic of the room was defined by the dominant roof line, necessitating a refined approach to the space.”

"The chosen quartzite stone, with its remarkable qualities reminiscent of Aboriginal art forms, serves as the captivating centrepiece of the kitchen space. Its unique texture pays homage to the rich artistic heritage of Aboriginal culture, deeply admired by the client.”
